Ceramic Anilox Roller Laser Engraving Process and Mesh Hole Shapes

Processing Steps for Ceramic Laser Engraved Anilox Rollers

1.Grind the new or old rollers to a diameter approximately 0.5mm smaller than the specified diameter.

2.Sandblast the ground roller surface to enhance the bonding strength between the coating and the base roller. This step also improves the corrosion resistance of the anilox roller by

   enhancing the base coating.

3.Use the plasma spraying method to prepare a 0.3 ~ 0.5mm thick oxide ceramic coating. When preparing anilox rollers with a high line count, a coating porosity of less than 1% is typically

   required.

4.Use a diamond grinding wheel to grind the ceramic coating to meet the outer diameter and precision requirements. Then, polish the surface to a smooth finish, ensuring that the thickness

of the ceramic coating is above 3001m.

5.Employ a computer-controlled laser engraving machine to carve the mesh holes based on specified line numbers, depths, and graphics. The ceramic coating on the web area and web wall,

prepared using the thermal spraying method, presents a denser and harder smooth state after laser treatment, thereby improving ink release and transfer properties.

6.Polish the roller surface and confirm and adjust the mesh volume. Polishing helps reduce friction between the anilox rolls and doctor blades or ink metering rolls, minimizing wear.

7.Finally, use ultrasonic cleaning to restore the shape, depth, and volume of the mesh holes. Perform a thorough check and confirmation of all parameters before delivery.

Laser Engraving Mesh Hole Shapes

Utilizing laser technology to continuously engrave tiny mesh holes on the ceramic coating, the cross-section of the mesh holes is essentially semi-circular due to the localized melting and

evaporation of the ceramic coating under laser irradiation. However, on the surface of the mesh holes, different engraving shapes result in configurations such as honeycomb, diamond, and

spiral. These mesh hole shapes are formed by the molten ceramic flowing between adjacent mesh holes

Thanks to the precision and reproducibility of laser output control, consistency in mesh line count, depth, shape, and angle is maintained, ensuring the production of high-quality and stable ceramic anilox rollers.
